Seeing your happiness

Feeling it too

From an expression of my love

And appreciation of you

Inspires in me to believe

I have  a new life

And a shining appreciation of me

Glowing in your eyes

That makes everything

Wonderful

And possible

Art, Living, & Time

Carl, AKA "Leo", by Amber

Amber, AKA "Lovely"Every day, since I can remember
I’ve waded through the soup of my mind
Among the drawings and poems I’d make

And the voyages I long to take
And about the passage of time

What I have learned today is, that Amber had good feelings and sad
For the kids in her class who were delighted by her, but who were tired from overwork in their young lives
That she too often has little energy to spend on her art
That I still have languages to learn, pictures and poems to make, classes to take
As does she

But  along the way, while we’re doing the doing that takes up each day
If there is love, there is success and happiness
And this is a living dream we can relish in
Until our imagined ones become material
Tastier than ’the soup of the day’, we now consume, and the hours drifting away

And yet, love seems the greatest art
The greatest dream there is, to me

‘I miss you a lot!’
The text message

Makes me feel warm
Loved,
And very lucky

So I write in reply:

‘I miss ‘me’ too;
the ‘me’ that is as happy
as the sky is wide,
when I am with you
when it’s ‘me’ and you.

Yes, I miss you too.’

This weekend, like all ours
Was amazing to me
How we resolve things
How compassionately
You talk to me, lovingly
Tenderly

How I seem to be blessed
With what to say
To make you as happy
As I feel
And want you to be
Which makes my life

How many men
Can craft thier dreams
With the greatest woman in the world

Feels like one to me
Thank you

Surprise

How could you be
So much like I me
And better, yet hidden
All my life

Well in this way
A life unfolds
We wait for the one, who makes things whole

And I started!

You weren’t somebody’s wife!

And we can’t complain
For the snows and the rain
Make brighter, the sunny days

And the time we wait
Means nothing is late
For it’s out of our control

And I am happy
And I am thankful
And I am oh so blessed, to know you

“Sometimes” Is Not This Time

Sometimes

There is Only Now

Sometimes

We’ve no time

To realize what we are hearing

Isn’t at all what someone is saying

And at those times, once we know

We must take a clearer view

Of  how and why we hear what we hear

How and why

And say “I’m sorry”

And listen with new ears

Waking Dreams with You

Copyright Carl Atteniese Jr. and Amber Park, All Rights ReservedIn the middle of the early morning

I must be with you

In the dark of the lonely night
With the lights on the river bright, shimmering i
n my sight
Shimmering, like your skin, but shimmering, pale and white

When most souls are asleeping
‘Cause they feel, it’s a quiet night

When the stars, are aweeping
From the occluding glaze
Of the ever-present fog, of a watery haze
That carelessly erases, the stars’
pulsing blaze, loving blaze

Making lonelier, the morning nights
Where shadows blue, of the river
And the sky up high is black, at its greatest heights

Oh I, must be with you
And you, must be with me

Our hearts,
Our souls
And our gardens, soon ablaze

Oh save just for the whispers
And the dreamed~of images

And the impassioned, imagined kisses
And the hushed, spoken~phrase
Our hearts
Our hearts and bodies
And our hands in our dreaming

make this dream
make this dream in loving ways

Oh how I love you
Oh how you love me
And so real,
so real it seems

Your candle, I light
And it ‘feels’ just right
Though in reality
You’re nowhere

My love is nowhere, in sight

I must be with you!
You must be with me!

I must be with you!
To ‘touch you’!

To ‘hold you’!

And to ‘kiss you’!

To ‘have’ you

To ‘be with’ you

To ‘see’ you

To ‘mold you’!

I must be with you!
You must be with me!

To love

And

Goodnight…

Dear Carl and Amber (Bitna),

I must say I was very deeply moved by
Your poetry, the words were formed so beautifully.
You inspired me (both of you) so much
That it reminded me of a poem I wrote for Shirl when we first met.
This time it is for you and I hope in my simple way to inspire both of you.

TAKE MY LOVE

I HAVE DECLARED MY LOVE
THE DEPTH OF IT IS INFINITE

I HAVE DECLARED MY LOVE
I PUT MY HEART WITHIN IT

ACCEPT IT PLEASE, I PRAY
I HAVE OFFERED MY HEART,

MY MOST PRECIOUS POSSESION-
IN  A MOST TENDER WAY

HOLD IT TO YOUR HEART
IT IS REAL,
YES HONEST, PURE

TURN IT NOT AWAY
SEE IT GLOW-

WILLING TO ENDURE,
FOREVER AND A DAY

Charles F.X. Carroll

It was not my best effort, however,
it got the message to the person I care about
more than anything else I could have said at the time.

Love to You Both,

Uncle C

Me without Bangs

Test 1

The light that makes the shapes you see
The way it lies becoming me
I hope it renders grace

But should you spy what’s borne inside,
Beneath the shine and shade

I’d wish you’d know the real beauty
The serenity God has made

Many can look, and be endeared,
Upon the form of youth,

But can they look within and hear
The voice,
And song of truth

Amazed and appreciative

Childlike and mature

Your excited grace

Leading me,

Calling me,

Painting my heart

You look at the colors

And the shapes

We both marvel at the art

And I am all along in awe of you

And how you make me feel

And what I do to you

Amazed that this is real

Saturdays and Sundays with You

Saturdays,

The two of us

Riding to Seoul

For a meal

To look at some art

To look at our own

To be close

And to make a short time into long

The world is simplified

The world is made more beautiful

And it ends with with elation, conversation

Intense emotions

Healing and extacy

And on Sunday celebrations,

Where we draw and take pictures

And I marvel at your skills

Two artists peering into dreams

The windows of our hopes and future

Where we’re hanging over the sills

I just want to keep falling and never land,

My Love

What I See

Need I words
Oh, I wish not

Though desire binds me
To express a lot

About this light
That defines your face
Revealing all your wondrous grace

Were I a musician
Yes, I would play
For you a lovely song each day

Were I a poet
Oh, I would make
Your daily sonnet
For beauty’s sake

You are just so angelic to me
I want for you
And the world to see

The light!
The light!
The shadows true!
Rainnaissance paintings they make of you!

For your serene and gentle face!
It drives my heart a rapid pace!

Da Vinci’s passed!
Carravaggio too!
Waterhouse is gone!
What can we do!

I’ve but one choice!
Tis plain to see
With brush and pigment
Set this free

This desire
This passion
And this pain
To show
What’s seen within again

Yet silent now
I can keep not
Desire I’ve to express a lot

About this light
That defines your face
Revealing all your wonderous grace

A Day to Remember

Here you are
There you were
Like a rare flower on a plain

Like a ray of sunlight
Steadily, gracefully, shining
Through a lone space in the clouds

There I was in a realm of happiness
Like a single shell-shocked soldier
Being taken from a combat zone
On a padded satin stretcher
And not alone

High on the medicine that saves me
Staring up at you through that golden ray of sunshine

You’re a lovely angel nurse, holding my hand
In your care, there’s not a scratch left on me
And with the smoke cleared
A spring breeze suddenly has come to me
Through winter, your fragrance on it

You are a living, graceful masterpiece
Before my eyes
Carressing my ears
Touching my heart every day

And on the bus, you took my hand
You put your head on my shoulder
And I felt you were mine then, for now

You’re so very much more than enough, forever
Thank you for saving me
My Love

The Gift

Copyright 2008, by Carl Atteniese Jr., All Rights ReservedWe cannot keep the sunshine

We cannot keep the rains

Nor pretty fallen snowflakes,

upon our window panes

We cannot keep the oceans, nor mountians,

nor the sky

We cannot even keep ourselves

No sense in asking ‘why’

Lovers cannot keep Their beloved

Though their love be whole and true

But I can keep

The Love You give

While I dream of ‘keeping’ you

Thank you for the gift of your love

*

Here is the original one I wrote in New York between our phone calls, when I’d asked if you would like a poem, so I wrote one and called you back and read it to you…

I cannot keep a flower

Nor can I keep the sea

I cannot keep the sunshine

Nor the summer breeze touching me

I cannot keep my parents

Nor my friends so dear

But your love and mine for you

I wish to hold it near

If I could take one thing with me

Into eternity

It would be you

My lovely cherub

So our love

Might forever

Be

Worry not about the time

As you wouldn’t by the sea

Nor with a flower, or the sky

Don’t ever wonder how or why

Please don’t ever try

Just be beautiful,

And with me

Until the time is nigh

Amber, When I Met her…

Her eyes are light,
The shape of happiness

Her nose is smooth,
Reminiscent of a cuddly cat’s

Her lips are lines and radiant shapes,
Painted with Vermeer’s brush

And when she is a ‘mirth with me,
My face must be aflush…
